Our body shape is our body shape, full stop. exclamation mark! CAPITAL LETTERS!
Our skeleton, or rather internal framework cannot be changed no matter what influencers are telling you. Don’t let the workouts to ‘fix’ your hips dips and thigh gaps fool you.
I love the fact that we all want to work on reshaping, toning, building muscle and strength but do you even realize that certain parts of our body structure are exactly that? Part of our structure! Not to be changed, and couldn’t be changed if we tried?
The media has found incredible ways of convincing us otherwise.
From influencers to the newest slim pills and even to the strangest gadgets that possibly create more harm than good! You are doomed if you try and doomed if you don’t. So how do we keep our heads above water? To not be swayed into something that is harmful for us? And how do we know it is a scheme and not the truth?
Well let’s look at two such examples that give us trainers quite the headache. Those are the hip dip and the ever-sought-after thigh gap.
The way these two may appear/ present on your body all comes down to your pelvis shape. Some people may diet down and exercise until the cows come home. But their hip structure will just not allow any changes. If it is fat you are holding in your lower body, then fair enough you may be able to burn some off. Then possibly reveal a thigh gap. However, if you have never had a thigh gap, at any lighter weight in your life. Then know that this is not something that you can change and hey!
Even better, you will not lose your phone when on the toilet
However, you will always find influencers promoting a diet pill that ‘helped them gain a gap’ or exercises that actually do not serve these supposed problem areas. We can certainly shape up and influence muscle mass but do not believe that you can change and reshape your bodies framework.
Hip dips are also something to be celebrated.
We may not like this ‘dimple’ look but it doesn’t mean we are any healthier or any less healthy than someone else. It doesn’t make us more or less attractive. I had a client point out to me that she only just realized she had the supposed unattractive hip dips when she found exercises on YouTube to fix them! Our bodies don’t need fixing ladies! They need love, care and attention through healthy exercise and nutrition. We should learn to love this look and learn to work with it rather than against it. No amount of dieting and exercising will ever change that side hip dip.
To be honest, even I never knew I had hip dips until social media started portraying that it is such a terrible look. And that’s why I thought I needed to workout to fix it. NEWSFLASH, we cannot fix it! Thank goodness we all look different right. It is something to be celebrated, let’s ditch the mentality that every part of us needs fixing.
