I don’t know many people who do not suffer with headaches now and again.

In fact, as I write this, I am about to start with my natural remedies to help me get through the day in less pain! Because I myself have a headache.

Whether it is because of the change in season, the stress and collective low-spirited energy in the world or just the lack of self-care right now, something needs to be done. I am a coach whose most prominent belief is that no one should have to remain in a state of ill health or pain. Especially when there are options available, there are things that can be done we just have to be willing to do them.

The best way to end a headache is to know what brought it on.

My top tips:

Firstly, make sure you are well hydrated.

Maybe you have been so involved with work or your kids that you haven’t even realize that you haven’t had any water since your morning workout. I love using natural effervescent’s that are full of various minerals necessary for hydration (send me a DM for brand names)

Place a cold compress on your neck.

This is a quick way for many to combat a headache as it eases vasoconstriction.

An option like the above, and my favourite, is using essential oils.

Peppermint oil, natural and organic of course, works absolute wonders just by rubbing it into your temples or by deep inhaling and using it as aromatherapy. Careful not to get any in your eyes and always dilute! Some people swear by lavender as it is so soothing.

Facial lymph drainage is something that is slowly gaining popularity.

For anti-ageing purposes and in this case it can help open any blockages. These could be creating your headache, such as blocked sinuses.

Practice relaxation and mindfulness.

Do you realize what you may be stressed and anxious about? Have you taken the time to offload this stress so that you can carry on with your day? Whatever we hold on to can turn to disease and it is exactly that, a disease of our energy.

Now what could you do on a day to day basis to avoid feeling ill with headaches?

Take it a step further and actually look into your lifestyle and see what could be missing. Are you eating a varied diet? One that allows you full benefit from vitamins and minerals? Magnesium is such an important mineral for those who really struggle with headaches. These foods are bananas, avocado, cashews, legumes and seeds. Now can you see how a varied diet would be beneficial?

Then onto movement. If you love the exercise you do, and it doesn’t raise your blood pressure to a point of tension then keep that up. It is great to manage stress with exercise. Otherwise I would always suggest yoga, ease tension and release blockages so you can get all the oxygen you need into your body and brain.

If this helps even just one of you sitting with a headache today, then I will be happy!
