Let’s talk about your style

For those of you who though this might be a blog about fashion, sorry!

This is about your wellness style. This may be a confusing concept to type out about but bear with me:

When you were at school, you were either the student who need to re-write notes over and over again to learn your work. Maybe you were the student who drew mind maps and stuck them all over your walls. Another option could be that you were the student who recorded yourself reading out your textbook and would listen to that track on replay (this may sound odd but it worked best for me!)

We are either auditory (hearing), visual (self-explanatory) or kinesthetic (touch) learners.

Some of us are even a combination of the above. We need a certain style or certain means of learning that is most effective for us and how our brains work. This can also be said of personality style. We carry ourselves, listen to advise of others and prefer living in certain ways.

Now how does that relate to a health and fitness lifestyle?

Well, when it comes to getting inspired to live a healthier life, some of us are attracted to using essential oils and diffusing them into our environments. Others of us want to focus 100% on juicing, raw meals, maybe just more plant-based meals. And yet again another group of us want to dive deep into fitness and try any new style out there. Can you note the difference? It says a lot about our wellness style. One could be more stimulated by scent, another by physically doing all that is possible and another changing up taste buds.

Ideally, those who thrive most in this lifestyle incorporate every area available to us in the health and fitness industry. Including supplements, working with homeopaths or holistic healers and experimenting with healing movement like tai chi. Sound a little much?

Even though one wellness style may attract you more, how do you truly know what is or isn’t for you, unless you try.

Being on lockdown means all the health shows I have been dying to watch can now be watched! I recently dived into a few episodes of Goop – a series by Gwyneth Paltrow and this displays this exact concept. Why is it that there are so many healing, exercising and eating protocols out there yet we all chose differently? Well it comes down to this, personality style. What works for one will not work for another, firstly because your belief in the process matters. Then secondly because of how you process, enjoy and learn things with your own personality style.

So next time you see that fit-fluencer flaunting what it is they do to keep fit and healthy and it makes you cringe, do not let it get to you! You are you and how you chose to live this lifestyle is what is best for you. This little ramble is all to remind you that who and what you are in health and fitness is your own best fit
