Turn survive into thrive – tips for coping with covid19

Ladies and gents, the world has entered a scary place and before things get better, they will get worse. This blog is not another fear mongering one, but one to help you through this time! We want to give you practical tips for coping with covid19 to not only survive but thrive! With tips for how to keep looking after your health and fitness, while most are focusing only on their immune system boosting (which is fair!). Do you know how valuable being fit is? I just wanted to keep you all smiling and using those workout and nutrition endorphins to your
advantage!

Firstly, there is a silver lining here.

Imagine spending more time at home doing the things you love or have desperately needed to do! Spend time sorting cupboards, organizing the rooms you haven’t had time for and feel the freshness the spring cleaning gives you.
Read those books you bought and were so excited to dive into yet haven’t had or made the time for! In fact start that online course you have been putting off!

Secondly, I hope you haven’t all bought out all the stores, but keep the essentials on hand. Even better, dig up a couple of those healthy recipes you have been too lazy to try, grab those ingredients and spend time playing around and learning what you like and what could work on a daily basis. I promise it isn’t necessary to clean out all the store shelves! Remember these are PRACTICAL tips for coping with covid19!

A few of the basics and nutrient dense foods will be great!

Tinned tomatoes, meat, dried grains especially your nutrient dense ones like beans, quinoa, brown rice and chickpeas! In fact buy lentils, dried fruit and nut butters to keep adding to the goodness! I love rice cakes, oat cakes and any cracker really because all you need it nut butter, or jam and sometimes even honey and banana and it is satisfying and nutrient dense as can be for a quick snack. Oh and I love to keep greens mixes in the cupboard for days where my nutrition intake hasn’t been of great quality. How about buying some organic popcorn, nice snack for a movie when need be

Home workouts..

I know so many ladies who say they cannot get the motivation to train at home. Well guess what? This will force you into it! Make a whatsapp group with your fit friends, then set times and days where you will zoom call, whatsapp call or just really hold each other to working out then and there. If you only have yourself to disappoint you may skip it completely but if your friends are about to workout and commit you may be more likely to do the same! All from the comfort of your home! This will also ensure you don’t eat yourself out of all your snacks as can happen when we are home and bored.
